- Researchers examine the effectiveness of smoking cessation interventions in rural and remote populations.
- The Tobacco Control Network recently released a technical assistance (TA) package about, “Intersection of COVID-19 and Tobacco Control” for states. The TA package is a collection of state case studies, research, virtual event recordings and online resources.
- A research study on the effectiveness of recruitment strategies of Latino smokers found that direct low-effort recruitment strategies yielded a screening pool more likely to be eligible for clinical cessation trials.
- The FDA issued a temporary pause on the order banning the sale of Juul e-cigarette .
- The American Lung Association released a new issue brief, “Collaborating with your State Insurance Commissioner” to help public health staff understand the role of state insurance commissioners and leverage relationships with these important stakeholders.
- Researchers find that youth with internalizing and externalizing problems should be screened for e-cigarette use and provided with proper resources to prevent early initiation of e-cigarette use.
- The CDC has updated their Health Disparities Related to Commercial Tobacco and Advancing Health Equity webpage, which includes information and resources for specific population groups.
- The FDA recently developed a new free toolkit, “Vaping and E-Cigarettes: A Toolkit for Working With Youth.” The toolkit provides professionals working with youth the information they need to help educate their communities about e-cigarettes and their effects on youth.
