ChangeLab Solutions has released its collection of Framing Tobacco Disparities resources. This collection of evidence-informed resources was created for tobacco prevention staff and partners as a guide on how to properly frame communications on tobacco-related health disparities in ways that minimize racial biases and foster support for effective policy solutions.
This new series of equity-centered messaging guides highlight how communications around health equity issues must be strategically and thoughtfully created as certain disparity-focused messaging can bring greater harm to the communities most burdened by commercial tobacco use. The resources in this collection will help people to frame their messages within a justice and social context.
The Framing Tobacco Disparities collection includes 13 different resources. The resources range from an overview of framing tobacco disparities to guides for specific groups of people on how to talk about tobacco-related health disparities (i.e., children and youth advocates).
The Collection Includes:
- An Overview of the Tobacco Disparities Framing Project
- Justice in the Air Report brief
- Training Modules Curriculum
- Using Communications to Build Public Understanding Guide
- Building a Strong frame Guide
- Recommendations in Action Guide
- Talking Points for children and youth advocates, racial & ethnic justice advocates, health equity advocates, public health professionals, and rural health advocates
To access the collection of resources from ChangeLab Solutions website, simply choose the resource of choice and enter your name and email address when prompted. This will provide you free access to download the resource, as well as access to all of Changelab’s law and policy resources.
