The Surveillance and Evaluation Webinar Series, hosted by the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health (OSH), Emory Centers for Training and Technical Assistance, and NORC at the University of Chicago, shares information on program evaluation best and promising practices and describes the role of evaluation in tobacco control work. Webinars cover emerging topics in surveillance and evaluation applicable to public health professionals, particularly state surveillance and evaluation staff. This is an ongoing series that allows OSH and tobacco control surveillance and evaluation staff nationwide to share information and resources.
This month’s presentation was on projecting the potential impact of TIPS campaign-like antitobacco media campaigns. Researchers utilized a tobacco microsimulation to quantify the health and budgetary impact of a TIPS-like continuous, extended duration national media campaign to increase cigarette smoking cessation.
